The village of Parekklisia stands in rolling countryside east of Limassol and is becoming increasingly well known for its award-winning winery.
11 years ago, Theodoros Hadjiantonas decided to try making his own wine. He had always had an interest in wines and his great grandfather had once owned the Hadjiantonas-Kolas winery in Pera-Pedhi. Although he leads a busy life as a Cyprus Airways pilot and father of three children, he thought that winemaking would be a great new hobby! He bought his first oak barrel and made 225 litres of Shiraz which he and his wife Natacha gave to family and friends for the millenium. Everyone loved the wine and enthusiastically encouraged him to make more - and he did, in 2002 and 2003.
In 2004, Theodoros applied for his licence, bought some vineyards and produced his first bottles commercially. The winery makes 70,000 bottles of nine different wines. The wines are regarded as being top quality wines and amongst the best in Cyprus and regularly win medals in Greece, France, UK and locally in Cyprus.
The winery is located in a beautiful three-storey building that incorporates a sizeable cellar on the lower ground floor. Visitors are able to learn about the fermentation process and about the use of oak barrels for producing quality wine. On the third floor there is the luxurious wine tasting lounge/restaurant overlooking the winery gardens that can accommodate over 60 people and is ideal for private parties, christenings and weddings as well as corporate meetings and seminars.
During the summer months, the winery's gardens can accommodate over 1000 people making it the perfect venue for weddings, corporate functions and school educational outings.
