“Ygia” Polyclinic Private Hospital is the oldest private hospital in Cyprus. It was established in 1983 and commenced operations in 1987. It is the largest and one of the best equipped private hospitals, situated in the heart of Limassol.
In 2007, after major renovations and an extension of its building facilities, “Ygia” Polyclinic boasted its capacity to 152 beds, extended the number of operating theaters to 12, established and extended the capabilities of its Clinical Laboratory Department, Radiology Department (X-Ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound), a multi-dynamic Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics Departments. Furthermore, from the 16th of June 2012, a state-of-the-art Cardio-Vascular Catheterizations Center was established at the hospital offering the only 24-hour acute PCI service in the South-West part of Cyprus.
Moreover, the hospital has a range of fully equipped ambulances working 24 hours in order to be able to best respond to emergencies.
“Ygia” Polyclinic employs an open model of operation allowing licensed physicians that have undergone a screening process and have been approved as associate physicians to gain practicing privileges in our facilities. Currently, there are 245 physicians with those privileges. In addition, “Ygia” Polyclinic employs approximately 430 medical, nursing, administrative and support staff making us one of Cyprus’ largest employers. The “Ygia” Polyclinic personnel is multilingual thus better and most efficiently serving the needs of our patients. The majority of the nursing staff has been employed for over 20 years. In addition the Hospital constantly recruits and trains new staff in order to ensure continuity and quality of service. This highlights their professionalism, loyalty and commitment towards the hospital.
In addition, our institution is affiliated with the St. George’s University, School of Medicine (London) and University of Nicosia School of Medicine in the training of Medical Students, the Technological University of Cyprus, and Nursing School in Limassol and the European University in Nicosia.
Moreover, Ygia Polyclinic, after a long process, has concluded a five-year contract with the British Ministry of Defense to provide secondary health care to the population of the British Bases in Cyprus after the decision of the British Ministry of Defense to close its hospital in Akrotiri. This honors our hospital since the British Authorities have trusted in the long term the secondary health care of their staff in a Cyprus Institute, after serious studies and audits.
Finally, our institution’s top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, staff and associate physicians. For this reason, we have gained the accreditation from the London based international accrediting organisation, CHKS (ISO 9001:2008). Furthermore, “Ygia” Polyclinic in order to provide the best and most up-to-date treatments, continuously invests in new medical technologies and the constant training of the staff in order to serve the patients in the best possible way.
Our Hospital’s vision was always to ensure the provision of high quality healthcare services as our main focus is the patient and his safety. We also rely on our people, and it is very important for us that each of our staff performs a worthy vocation, always with the support and assistance of our Management Team.
