Aphrodite Hills Golf Course: Par 70/71 (6,269m) Handicap Men 28, Women 36

The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club is located near Paphos in Cyprus, overlooking the Mediterranean, taking its name from the birthplace of Aphrodite, which it overlooks. Aphrodite Hills has been described as an award winning 18 hole championship golf course and academy. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, this Cyprus golf course was officially opened in 2002 and is considered to be one of the best in Cyprus. Surrounded by a protected forest, the fairways cut a swathe through lakes, olive and carob trees and the golf course comprises two plateaus separated by a dramatic ravine which offers golfers an original and breathtakingly stunning backdrop. The Aphrodite Hills golf resort itself spans a massive 234 hectares (578 acres) with the golf course weaving in and around the development. The golf course is 6,299m long and plays at a par 71/70.

The golf resort includes facilities such as a luxury hotel, spa, championship tournament golf course, double-ended 350m practice range, PGA qualified instructors, golfing academy, 3-hole academy course for beginners, luxurious clubhouse with restaurant and bar, and a pro shop offering the latest in golf apparel. The Aphrodite Hills golf academy features first class practice facilities, including a challenging 3-hole course consisting of two par 4s and a par 3. Secret Valley Golf Club: Par 72 (5,904m) Handicap Men 28, Women 36

The Secret Valley Golf Club is probably the most prestigious golf course in Cyprus, located in the famous area of Petra tou Romiou, the birthplace of Aphrodite, 18km east of Paphos and 49km west of Limassol. Opened in 1996, the Secret Valley golf course, designed by Iacovos Iacovou, nestles in a scenic valley, surrounded by grand trees which add an aura of maturity to this fairly new golf course. The Sty Kingly rock formation offers panoramic views, giving golfers both the beauty of nature and the pleasure of golf.

The golf course measures 5,904m and plays to a par 71, and players without a handicap certificate can play after noon on request, depending on availability. VIP Tours will arrange a slot for you if you wish to play a round.

Tersefanou Golf and Country Club

In addition to the other wonderful courses on Cyprus, a further golf course is planned at Tersefanou, which is a village just outside Larnaca. Scheduled for completion in 2010, the golf course at Tersefanou Golf & Country Club is running four years behind schedule. The date of completion is not known. Once complete, it is expected to be PGA approved and will boast a five-star hotel and spa facilities. There will also be luxury villas and apartments built on and around the course.

Since the announcement of the Tersefanou golf course, several new developments have sprung up around Tersefanou and the area of the golf course. This has also had an effect on other villages in the locality, such as Kiti, Mazatos and Pervolia, which are all seeing an increase in the building of villas and apartments to accommodate the expected influx of golfers and holiday makers to Cyprus.
